My Rude Awakening

Aaron Ave. Records Inc. 2008

My Rude Awakening’s debut CD is heavy, hard hitting, in your face rock delivered in rare classic rock form from a group of local Arlington High School guys.

Growing up in the wake of Arlington’s own Masters of Metal, Pantera influences My Rude Awakening’s sound of heavy guitar riffs with unsuspecting catchy melodies and witty social content years beyond their age.

My Rude Awakening’s self–titled first release offers 10 tracks of unstoppable teenage drive from a teenage band that doesn’t have a license yet.  My Haunting, Bleeding Tears and Heavy will shred the fingers off of Guitar Hero wannabes  while  songs like Everyone and Speechless show off MRA’s ability to be diverse.  I’ve Seen Better Days and Get Some Attention move all feet in proximately of the stage. Track 3, Jennifer asks the perplexing question of a friend, “did you find your way back home?” with the help of members from The Arlington High School choir.

Brad Thompson              www.bradthompson.com

Aaron Ave. Records Inc. 2008

This self-titled new CD is Brad Thompson’s his first studio record since 1997. The CD is a scaled down, soulful collection of songs masterfully delivered in the unique acoustic style in which  Brad Thompson has built his solid Ft. Worth Texas reputation.

Acoustic guitar, bass by Aden Bubeck, percussion by Joey Carter and Rich Stitzel, and the ever present avocado shaker by producer Mike Danne make up the core of the album.  However, the full band with additional electric guitars by Paul Metzger and Kevin Grove lends itself well to the mix for the catchy pop tunes Natalie and Amazing.

Never before released studio versions of fan favorites Wild, Still and One Great Sound will remind listeners of the The Undulating Band’s earlier years  while all together new tunes like Jitterbug Perfume, Eve, Way Out, We Run, and One Of These Days offer up some of Brad’s best work to date.

Lannie Flowers - Same Old Story

Aaron Ave. Records Inc. 2008

Same Old Story, though it may be, your typical boy meets girl, young love tale; it is not typical in delivery.

Lannie Flowers groomed his pop sensibilities as front man and leader of the Dallas-Ft. Worth based band The Pengwins from the late 70’s through the 80’s.  Since the bands demise, Lannie has established a strong reputation in the DFW area as a talented songwriter and producer.

Through the years of habitual late night jams, listening parties of the great pop bands of the day and working with award winning producers such as Rick Derringer and Jim Dickinson, Lannie honed his song writing and producing skills.

When faced with the daunting task of finding a permanent storage facility for all those hundreds of old demos and half finished songs in his studio in Kennedale TX, Lannie decided to create the ultimate homage to those old tapes and his music.  36 individual melodies or one all inclusive melody, It’s up to your interpretation.

Same Old Story is a 45 minute pop music collage.  From the first glance, through all the struggles of young love, to the inevitable end, Lannie’s delivery is a refreshingly new twist on that,

“Same Old Story, you know the one you’ve heard so many times…

  “It’s the same old story,

Except this time the story’s mine”…

     Lannie Flowers
